My date and I went here last week and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The music, the service, and the food were very good. I recommend it.

Iron Gate is an amazing restaurant for work lunches and dinners. I have been here so many times, all for work or work-adjacent dinners and lunches and everything is always great. The menu is always rotating but there are a few items that are almost always available. The service is very good and the servers are very knowledgeable and efficient. I love the back area with the fireplace. It's so cozy. For special events, they have a back table that's covered with a tent that can be enclosed. It's very quiet and private, and is very comfortable for larger groups.

The second venture of the chef from Vermillion in old town. IMO it's better than what Vermillion used to be in terms of quality, service, and creativity. The cocktails, wine pairings, and platings were well thought out. Pacing of the meal was perfect as well, not easily done with this many courses. It's a very well decorated and cool spot sort of hidden behind the iron gates at the entrance. Small bar and a few tables in the front narrow section, with outdoor covered seating in the back patio area, and indoor seating past the patio. No it's not cheap, but things that take effort and time to produce obviously demand a premium price. Worth a splurge for a night out.

Very thoughtfully curated menu and delicious. The pickles drink was a bit tart for my taste but everything else was incredible. I'm still dreaming of those squash blossoms! And the honey yogurt cocktail! And such a cute vibe!!! My only complaint was the mosquitoes but they so kindly brought bug spray. It's pricey and small portions, but I'd definitely go back for a special occasion.

I visited Iron Gate during DC Restaurant Week and enjoyed their $65 three-course meal. We opted for the patio seating, which felt like a serene retreat from the bustling city streets. The covered wooden trestle with vines overhead created a charming Mediterranean atmosphere, plus they had fans that kept the bugs away. For starters, I had the watermelon and feta salad, a delightful mix of sweet and savory that set a high bar for the meal. We also have a tomato salad, which was good. The main course featured perfectly cooked, flaky fish with corn. Dessert was a rich chocolate-hazelnut mousse, generously portioned and very satisfying. While the wine selection was extensive, I would have appreciated more non-alcoholic options beyond Coke products. The indoor area seemed a bit warm, though I was happy to be on the picturesque patio.

we had an amazing dinner and culinary experience tonight! We had the chef family menu for $95 per person but we got all the appetizers plus "surprises" with every course. Beyond the variety and creativity of the food, everything was delicious and we were impressed with how light yet filling the meal felt. We definitely took some of the flatbread and focaccia to go. Our main waiter Chris F went above and beyond with the service, informative conversation, and just getting my husband and I very excited for every course! Our water glasses were never left empty and the service overall was super attentive. Overall, a delightful experience and we will definitely be back!
